Who owns what
Ownership of the Portuguese press in this register, measured in two ways that disagree.
Counted in titles, ownership looks dispersed: 48 owners for 56 titles, and 42 of those owners hold a single title. (The register lists 57 outlets; ownership is established for 56.) Counted in published articles, it looks concentrated: the 6 groups holding more than one title published 43% of the week’s articles between them, and a single title, Notícias ao Minuto (New adVentures, Lda.), published 15% on its own.
The full map — which group holds which outlet, what kind of owner it is, and how much each published in the last seven days — is on the Portuguese page. Every line there comes from the title’s own masthead, the ERC regulator’s portal or the commercial register, and the sources are cited on each outlet’s profile. The article count covers the seven days up to 26 August 2026.
How this is measured
The register lists the Portuguese outlets this project follows, grouped by owner. The weekly article count is what each outlet actually published to its public feed, read hourly. What the register covers — and what was tried and did not work — is in the methodology. These numbers follow a rolling seven-day window, which is why a citation carries the date of access.
